The Secret Newtons site has been _significantly_ updated. Check it out.

Newton Underground reported a little while ago on the Access Device 2000 made by Harris. This unit is a ruggedized, vertical market Newton 2000. Sounds like a great unit, but has a pretty hefty price tag at the moment. ($3700). Anyone happen to own one of these?

From the latest issue of Pen Computing, p 91:
"I still remember the excitement of holding a pre-release Newton NotePad (as it was labeled then) in my hands for the first time," said Clinton Logan, ace developer for LandWare. "Truly unque products like that don't come along very often."

Consider the name change. The product was originally called the Newton NotePad to suggest its personal assistive features, but that was later changed to MessagePad to emphasize the product's communication capabilities.

Cool Site!: Pictures of an Inscribed Clear 110, a wooden Original Newton Messagepad, and "Bun Warmer" (original Newton Prototype) can be found at John Leko's web site - click on the Unique Newtons page!

The wooden Newton was also distributed at the NDA Protest Rally at Apple after Newton was discontinued. Unfortunately, few seemed to have made it out of there. If anyone's got a spare one, I'd love to take it off your hands.

For those looking for specs on the Interconnect Adapter - sorry - I contacted the previous owner, and he no longer has the email address of the new owner.

Also - if you're a collector - what Newton are you looking for now? What's on the top of your list? I'm just taking an informal survey. Email me.

In 1995, there was a rumor that Hyundai was planning on releasing a GEOS Based PDA. It was to be called Gulliver. I think it was acknowledged, but I don't know if it ever came out. Anyway - What's my point? Well, take a look at the picture found on The Zoomer PDA Home Page. Especially note the buttons on the button bar. Look familiar?

Does anyone have any info on the Gulliver? Was it really a GEOS Device? Or did they just happen to use a Newton in putting together this promotional picture? Update: It appears the Gulliver definately did not run NewtonOS - but the picture is still worth a look.

Manfred Kohlbach also sent in this MacWorld picture which showed some early prototypes of the eMate - in all it's many colors. I'm not sure if these were functional eMates, or merely empty shells. However, I imagine these are sitting in an Apple warehouse somewhere.

And, also, here are a couple of large pictures of the Digital Ocean Tarpon and Seahorse courtesy of David Watson. Unfortunately, Digital Ocean is no more, however there are a few specs listed at this Newton Hardware page. I'll put up seperate pages for these units when I get a chance.

If anyone has any information on the Siemens Newton Phones, I'd love to hear it - especially how many were ever produced - were any ever sold?

Added some basic information and pictures on two more items. The Motorola Marco and a never released Apple Multifunction Interconnect Adapter.

If you have a unique Newton or Newton Clone, mail me and let's talk about it! Even if you're not willing to part with it, I'd love to get even information and pictures.

While unrelated to Collecting, per se - Concept Kitchen has announced a very cool stylus that I've been wanting for a while now. It's a Fingertip Stylus!

Thanks to those who emailed me! I'm glad to know there are others out there.

Manfred Kohlbach wrote in with the suggestion of hilighting some books for readers to find more info. (And I agree with his suggestions.)

Apple by Jim Carlton - I haven't read this one myself, but Manfred reports there is Newton coverage
Apple Design - A great book. This has some great pictures of the Newton, including prototypes - like the Messageslate.

Grand Opening!

This page is just getting started and I've put a small amount of content online. I can't say all of it is 100% accurate, so if there are any mistakes you are aware of, I'd love to hear it.

In The Collection, you'll find links and brief info on most of the "basic" Newtons as well as the Sharp Expertpad. In those links, you'll also find some interesting pictures and information about certain Rare Newtons - at least one of which I'd bet you've never heard of before.

Are you a Collector? Email Me, and let me know. Do you have information of rare/hard to find Newtons that aren't on this site? Again, let me know.

In the near future, I plan on adding content on the Motorola Marco, the Seahorse, and perhaps more.
